HOZAN TEMPLE

Take the Ikoma mountain cable car, the first of its kind in Japan (opened in 1918) to Hozanji Temple. Frequented by business people seeking favor in their endeavors, the temple, also known as Shoten is enjoyed furthermore for its view overlooking the Nara basin. On the way home drop by the popular shopping arcade, Green Hill for refreshments and souvenirs.

5. Hozanji Temple

Approximately 300years ago during the Edo era, a Buddhist priest by the name of "Tankai" restored and reconstructed the temple, now being called "Shoten". It attracted many tourists and visitors from the surrounding cities and outer suburbs.

Devine favors of the temple are nobility, business prosperity, domestic harmony, suitable candidates for marriage, parenthood and fulfilling love.

8. Ikoma Sanjo Amusement Park

Ikoma Sanjo Amusement Park is perched atop Mt. Ikoma at an elevation of 642m, and was opened in1929. From the amusement park, are spectacular unbroken views of Nara basin and Osaka plains, along with panoramic visibility of locations as far as Awaji Island and Akashikaikyo Bridge.

On opening construction in 1929, a 30m tall flight tower was also constructed, which today is the oldest and most famous flight tower in Japan.
